Franny’s in Brooklyn

Amazing pizza at Franny’s in Brooklyn this weekend (still wondering how they got so much flavor into the clam pizza), but it started with great drinks:

Drinks at Franny'sLeft to right:

Luxardo Negroni – Hendrick’s, Luxardo Bitter and Carpano Antica Formula

Bella Rosa – Plymouth, Luxardo Maraschino, Aperol and fresh lime juice

Twice Bitter – Fernet Branca, Chinotto and fresh lime juice

Homemade Tonic and Gin – Bulldog, homemade tonic and fresh lime juice

You can check out my review of these drinks on Twiddish!  Twiddish mainly talks about food, but I have it from the main source that anything non-prepackaged served in a bar/restaurant is fair game.

I agree that it’s gimmicky to call it tonic and gin, even if the tonic is homemade. It does, however, pleasantly recall a certain song:

    it’s nine o’clock on a saturday
    the regular crowd shuffles in
there’s an old man sitting next to me
making love to his tonic and gin

Fan of everything about the experience EXCEPT calling the cocktail “tonic and gin.” Do garden fresh tomatoes make it a TBL sandwich? Chips and fish? Coke and Rum? Jelly and peanut butter? No thanks.
